Q: freak_szol

“Since about third season of TB Sam is definitely showing us his dark side. Do you think that it may totally overtake him?”

A: Sam Trammell

“I don’t think so . . . Sam’s working through his issues. He’s grown a lot as a person since killing those two people. This struggle and growth is interesting to play and hopefully watch. ”

Q: TrueBloodHBO

“We’re THRILLED that you’ve taken the time to join us today, Sam. Is there anything special you’d like to say to the Truebies who are sending in questions right now? ”

A: Sam Trammell

“Hey! I’m so excited to be here. I’m gonna try to answer as many questions as possible. Let’s do this!”

Sam Trammell on True Blood’s Emmy Shutout, His Pal Peter Dinklage, and Running Into Ozzy Osbourne

NY Mag
Unlike his True Blood character, Sam Trammell can wax philosophical on both astrophysics and the band Rush alike. Not impressed? He can also discuss all of the above in French, enfoiré. But these days, the actor (a.k.a. diner owner/shape-shifter/nice-guy-with-a-past Sam Merlotte) is more preoccupied with genetics: as in his still-gestating twin sons with actress-girlfriend Missy Yager. Vulture interrupted Trammell, who’s busy nesting at home in L.A., to talk to him about his True Blood plotline, his castmates’ drinking habits, his days partying with Peter Dinklage, and what to do if a serial killer cocoons you in Saran Wrap.

Congratulations on completing season four. What was that wrap party like?
This year a lot of the cast had already gone off to their respective countries. But last year was crazier. There are definitely people on the show that like to have a good time. [Laughs.] Me, one of the writers, [Alexander] Skarsgard, and [Ryan] Kwanten — we’re not shy of doing shots, let’s put it that way. You know Kwanten … both those guys … I don’t wanna speak out of turn, but they probably wouldn’t mind.

They drink like champions?
Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Kwanten, yeah — for sure.

You grew up for a bit in Louisiana. Do you think the accents on the show are, you know, overblown?
I think everyone does a really good job. When you talk about the Louisiana accent, the people in the north have different accents than the people in Lafayette, which are a little more Cajun. Everyone sounds a little bit different, but everyone sounds a little bit different in the south.

That was very diplomatic of you.
[Laughs loudly.]

This season, we’re getting the feeling Sam just can’t trust his brother, Tommy. True?
[There’s] a huge deception and a huge violation of trust. Tommy is definitely in deep water. He’s got Maxine [Hoyt’s overbearing mom], but Tommy’s running out of friends in town. And Tommy’s trying to cheat Maxine out of her land, so he’s really burning a lot of bridges right now.

Will he outright turn evil?
I don’t know if I can really answer that specifically. We’re going to find out what price you pay when you shape-shift. That’s going to be a big issue. There’s a lot of mess that Tommy has already created that I have to clean up, and there’s potentially a lot more mess. He’s kind of a loose cannon.

And what of Sam’s new relationship with Luna?
Luna has a very scary ex-husband and father to her child [and a werewolf]. Sam is going to have a major conflict with the werewolves.

What if Sam just shape-shifted into a werewolf?
[Long pause.] I wonder if I could. Probably so. I like that.

Why don’t Sam and Sookie really share scenes together anymore?
Just because of our story lines, there’s so much to resolve in hers and mine. Though we do come together. There is some — I won’t say “resolution,” because I don’t wanna imply how well it goes or how not well it goes — but we do get together to talk. I feel like if we end up doing a few more seasons, the writers may run out of story with that and come back to me. Sam will always have a real connection with Sookie, and he’ll always love her.

How bummed were you that the show didn’t get any Emmy nominations this year?
Well, you know, it would’ve been really nice to get an Emmy. I think it’s tough because it’s a genre show. I mean, our show is much more than a genre show, because it deals with social issues and it’s really well written — it’s Alan Ball. And production wise it’s really, really rich; we shoot about four pages a day. But I think the fact that we have supernatural beings on it, maybe that’s not popular with Emmy voters.

Then how do you figure Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage got a nomination?
Peter Dinklage is one of my oldest friends from New York!

What were you both like back in the day?
We were ridiculous. We were out of control. It was a fun group of actors. You’d do plays, and when you’re done, you go out and meet friends. You wake up late in the morning, and you stay out late at night. Dink is one of the funniest, driest people that I knew in New York. And he was always that way: witty and kind of sarcastic in a great way.

Before you did theater, you were a musician in high school. Tell me about the Rush cover band you were in.
It was probably because of Neil Peart, the drummer — one of the most badass drummers ever. I remember going to a Rush concert, and we just sat behind Neil Peart and watched him play drums. I was also in an Ozzy Osbourne cover band, mostly because we had a guitarist who could play Randy Rhoads’s [parts].

Have you run into Ozzy in L.A.?
I saw him at a newsstand at, like, two in the morning. I didn’t say anything to him. I was coming off of some event. I remember being a lot tipsy and seeing him. So if it didn’t happen then, it’ll probably never happen.

Is it true you went to Brown after high school to be an astrophysicist?
When I was in high school, I was really into string theory and superstring theory and read Scientific American. It’s fascinating … but it doesn’t really get into the math of it. It’s all math. I was good at math, math was my thing — but I was not nearly good enough to be an astrophysicist. I was way outta my league. I realized this very quickly.

So you went to the Sorbonne to study.
It was crazy because it was assumed that I was fluent in French. And I was not. Everything was in French! I was studying semiotics and, like, a lot of French twentieth-century philosophy, deconstructionism: Jacques Derrida, Foucault. Psychoanalysis. Film theory. A lot of pretentious theory. The opposite of what I do now — completely not preparing myself for life.

But you must kill at cocktail parties.
You know what? If there’s actually a French speaker there, I can speak in French and do pretty good. But it doesn’t matter anymore: I’m about to have twins. I’m absolutely terrified, and they’re boys, too. The fear level is pretty high.

Before True Blood, you did episodes of Dexter, House, Cold Case, Bones. Are you fascinated by death?
I think it’s more a comment on what people on TV watch. But it was pretty funny — I was in the second episode of Dexter. I was the first person to be wrapped up in Saran Wrap! My arms went numb after four hours. I was just, like, saying, “This is going to be over. You’re a guest star. Just relax, take a deep breath, and keep going.” That was my brush with death.

Soon after, you meet your maker again in 2007’s AVPR: Alien vs. Predator – Requiem.
I got to work with Alien, and that was one of the coolest things I’ve done. That’s the Alien from Aliens, the second Alien movie — the same three guys who have been operating that alien. I got to get killed by the Alien. That was one of the great moments of my acting career.

Sam Trammell on KTLA News

Okay, person in charge of KFOR.com news website take note: Sam Trammell’s last name is spelled ‘T-R-A-M-M-E-L-L’. Sam was interviewed for KTLA morning program, discussing his role of Sam Merlotte on HBO’s True Blood.

Sam Trammell is ready to get serious!

By Ian Spelling
New York Times Syndicate

It’s time again for the rivers of blood to flow and the naked bodies to glisten.

Yes, “True Blood” fans, your favorite show is about to kick off its fourth season. It will all start on Sunday on HBO, and Sam Trammell can’t wait.

Trammell, of course, stars as the shape-shifter Sam Merlotte alongside Anna Paquin as the telepathic barmaid Sookie, Stephen Moyer as the vampire Bill Compton, Marshall Allman as Sam’s younger brother, Tommy, and several other actors and actresses who portray the series’ assorted people and creatures.

“There’s so much I want to tell everyone, and so much I’m not allowed to say,” Trammell said cautiously. “Usually we’re allowed to talk about things, but this season there are just a couple of big things that I’m not allowed to even bring up. We’re always reinventing ourselves as a show, so there are a lot of new characters this year, and, yes, there will be plenty of skin, and I’m sure we’ve already gone through gallons and gallons of blood. What else can I tell you without getting myself in trouble?

“Last season, by the end of it, Sam was in a real state,” the actor continued. “His buttons had been pushed by many people, and it ended in this eruption where I beat up that were-panther, started drinking, and I had a flashback to when I killed a couple of people, and I was betrayed by a girl I was seeing and committing petty crimes with. Hung over, still kind of reliving that flashback, I went to Tommy’s house, saw that he was gone, suspected that he may have stolen the safe with all of my money, and chased him down.”

Viewers then saw Sam fire his gun and nothing more.

“What you didn’t see is whether or not I shot Tommy,” Trammell said, speaking by telephone from his Los Angeles home, “and what had happened with Sam is that he basically took two steps back. He’d gone to Bon Temps to start a new life, and no one knew about this side of him, where he had a criminal background and these anger issues.

“So in Season 4 I’m dealing with that eruption that happened at the end of Season 3 and also with Sam’s past catching up with him,” he said. “It’s going to be cool, because we’ll see more of this shape-shifter community I’ve met, who are helping me deal with my issues, with all of the betrayal in my life, especially from my first adopted family leaving me because I was a shape-shifter. With this community I can talk about shape-shifting and heal myself a bit.

“And it’ll be cool for the audience, because they’ll learn a little more about shape-shifting, things we didn’t know about the mythology.”

Even better, Sam will be getting a love interest during Season 4 – and, no shocker, she’ll be a shape-shifter. Janina Gavankar, late of “The Gates” (2010), will play the character, a, pardon the pun, shapely schoolteacher named Luna.

“Luna is a very interesting character, and Sam is very attracted to her,” Trammell said. “She’s not just beautiful, but she’s also mysterious. She’s like Sam in the sense that she doesn’t want to reveal a lot about herself, about her past or who she is. Throughout the season those secrets start to reveal themselves to Sam, and some of them put Sam in danger.

“So what you’ve got is that Sam has given up the danger of being around the birth family you saw in Season 3 for this new danger of being around this community of shape-shifters, and especially Luna,” the actor explained. “He’s exchanged one kind of danger for another. There are some real surprises involving Luna, and let’s just say that the birth family that I thought I’d cut myself off from comes back to haunt me as well in Season 4.”

Between the third and fourth seasons of “True Blood,” Trammell – whose credits also include “Maximum Bob” (1998), “Anonymous Rex” (2004) and “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” (2007) – found time to squeeze in an indie film entitled “Guns, Girls and Gambling.” The ensemble cast also includes Dane Cook, Gary Oldman, Megan Park and Christian Slater.

“It’s a really fun, hyper-real Western, kind of in the style of Tarantino,” Trammell said. “It’s a dark comedy, pretty different. I play a corrupt sheriff, Sheriff Hutchins.”

Back when “True Blood” debuted – and ever since, really – everyone involved with the show has worried that pretty much any character could be killed off at any time. With a nervous laugh, Trammell admitted that, even after four seasons, he’s not sure he has a long-term, steady job.

“Bon Temps is a dangerous town,” Trammell said, “and no one on this show is 100 percent sure of anything. Every season that you last, you feel a little more confident that you’ll return the next season, but you never know what will happen, and there are definitely going to be some surprises in that department this year.

“I’m just happy each year that I get.”

Sam Trammell Teases True Blood Love Interest, Family Haunting

When we last left Sam Merlotte, he was holding a gun to his brother’s head.

How will this development play out on season four of True Blood? Spoiler alert, Sam Trammell told me this week, Tommy survives.

“Tommy is there,” the actor said. “We still don’t know whether I shot him or not. But he’s definitely around.”

What about the rest of Sam’s family, who viewers met last year? They “come back to haunt me,” Trammell teased. “I can’t quite escape them.”

While Sam’s past won’t leave him alone this summer, his future will be consumed by a new love interest: a shape-shifter named Luna, played by Janina Gavankar.

“She’s part of a new shape shifter community that I meet,” Trammell said to me. “We explore the shape-shifting mythology a lot this season and flesh out more details as far as the role of shape-shifting in the world. We’ll meet others like Sam.”

This ought to sound familiar to readers of Charlaine Harris’ novels, on which True Blood is based. Trammell says to include him in that group, as he finds the author “incredible” and says he read the first few books in her series immediately after he was cast because he was just so excited about the role.

Viewers have come to feel the same way over the years. Trammell says he first realized the massive popularity of the show when the cast showed up for Comic-Con after season one and the crowd was twice what it had been 12 months earlier.

That figure doubled again a year later.

“You feel like you’re The Rolling Stones or something walking out on that stage,” he said of the experience at the event.

With readers clamoring and speculating over every new True Blood clip and teaser, it’s unlikely the excitement will die down any time soon. The HBO hit returns on June 26.

Sam interviews with The Wrap…

‘True Blood’ Star Sam Trammell on How to Act Normal ‘In a World of Sheer Madness’

By: Tim Molloy
It’s said every award season that to truly determine the best actor, you’d have to have all the nominees play the same role. If you wanted to make things really tricky, you might have them all play a role on “True Blood.”

Sam Trammell shares a first name with shapeshifting, secretive bar owner Sam Merlotte, but not many life experiences. He has to go entirely by imagination to decide, for example, how his character might feel after transforming into a white bull to impersonate the god Dionysus to kill the manipulative maenad Maryann Forrester — as Sam did at the end of Season 2.

If the Emmy gods are willing, this could be the year Trammell scores his first Emmy nod for his supporting dramatic work on “True Blood,” especially after a third season that found him exploring his past and getting in touch with his inner rage. We talked with him about finding a new family in season 4, how to stay grounded when you’re surrounded by supernatural characters, and, perhaps hardest of all, how to shoot a convincing sex scene.

Sam is kind of an audience surrogate through all the vampires and other craziness on “True Blood.”
He’s a sensible person. He’s a responsible person in a world of a lot of irresponsibility and he’s a fairly grounded person in a world of sheer madness.

You get involved this season with a woman named Luna (Janina Gavankar of “The Gates” and “The L Word”). What can you say about that?

I had the family kind of dynamic happen last season with my brother and my two biological parents, and by the end had cut them offf. And this season I have a different kind of family that I’m going toward. She’s a shapeshifter, so I can really connect with her, and she’s also very mysterious, and I think Sam is drawn to that. She’s kind of like Sam in a lot of ways. He was and still is to a certain extent a mysterious character in town. … I don’t think anybody knows about him killing two people.

In addition to her I meet these other shapeshifters and there’s a real community of shapeshifters. This year we explore the mythology of shapeshifting.

Will we see Sam next season deal with his anger issues?

We saw him go off the edge little bit when he went on that drinking binge and almost killed that guy. But he was pushed pretty hard. It certainly was a breaking point when he beat that guy up last year. A lot of his anger issues came rolling back to the forefront. He’s going to have to do a little bit of work on himself this coming year in terms of controlling his emotions.

You’ve played very grounded human roles. Which is harder, those roles or the fantastical world of “True Blood”?

In a way I don’t have to make the choice. I really just play everything real. For the most part in the show I’m just a real guy who’s interacting with other real people. The fact that I’m a shapeshifter — those supernatural elements don’t come out a whole lot.

But the stakes are higher. For instance in season 2 when I was dealing with Maryann and was hearing that she’s basically the devil. … Evil in our show is extreme evil and the good is extreme good.

You just do things in this show you would never do in life and try to do them justice. You try also not to push too much.

How hard is it to do so many sex scenes?

The sex scenes are really hard and its not really hard because you have to be naked — that’s always sort of a thing. I don’t know if by chance, I’ve had to do a lot of that in my career. It’s really about the intimacy and creating intimacy with someone you don’t necessarily know all that well. That’s a tricky thing to pull off. … Getting that connection and also doing in front of a bunch of people.

Information Diet: Sam Trammell

Adweek: What’s the first information you consume in the morning?

Sam Trammell: When I wake up, I’ll go through emails on my iPhone—the junk email. At that point, my brain isn’t usually awake enough to handle anything more than that.

What do you read or watch or listen to at the breakfast table?
I’ll watch CNN in the mornings to catch up on what’s going on. On the weekends, I get the Sunday edition of The New York Times.

What occupies your mind in the car, on the subway, train, or bus?
I listen to KCRW in the car and Pandora radio, which I stream through the stereo from my iPhone. I’ve been listening to everything from Caribou to Conway Twitty. If I’m going on a longer car ride, I’ll download some podcasts. My favorite is This American Life, and I listen to Planet Money, from NPR.

Are you a TV junkie, or on an airtime-restricted diet?
I’m not a junkie, but I’m definitely not on a diet.

If you’re a couch potato, what do you watch, and how: TV, laptop, or tablet?
Mostly, I watch TV on my flat-screen at home. I love AMC’s new show The Killing, and some nights I watch 48 Hours, a true-crime show on the ID channel. And Netflix is great for streaming shows and movies.

Before bed, do you bite into a novel, graze on Twitter, or fast until morning?
Sometimes when I’m in bed, I’ll watch Netflix on my laptop and hook up a pair of headphones so I don’t keep my girlfriend awake. I read before bed, too; I just finished the novel Freedom by Jonathan Franzen, and now I’m reading The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov.

Which is more nutritious: print or Web?
I don’t read a lot of magazines, but when I’m traveling, I’ll pick up a copy of Vanity Fair to read on the plane—it’s like a full meal! The articles are so good, especially the crime stories. Browsing the Web is more like snacking—but I live on snacks.

Give us the skinny on your favorite app.
AroundMe is probably the app that I use the most. Hipstamatic used to be my favorite, but now I’m really into PictureShow because it lets you edit and retouch photos.

What’s your biggest digital indulgence?
Surf contests—more specifically, the ASP World Tour. Sometimes I’ll be up at 2 a.m. watching the finals in Australia, which you can stream to your iPhone. They can go on for days, so it’s a pretty indulgent time commitment.

With such a bloated media universe, how do you cut out the fat?
I try to find certain sites that I like, but I don’t really try to cut out the fat. I don’t have too much free time to surf the Web when the show’s in production, though . . . We have a pretty intense gym schedule.

True Blood Paleyfest 2011

True Blood News and AlexSkarsgard.Net/Sam-Trammell.Com were lucky enough to travel together to Los Angeles, CA this week to attend the 28th annual PaleyFest which took place on Saturday, March 6th. It was an unforgettable weekend where not only did we get to spend some quality time together… FINALLY… we were able to take part in an adventure into the unknown (along with many other ¨True Blood Junkies¨).

We were able to obtain a little bit of info on season 4, along with a heap (over 1600) photos and video!

Lucky for you, we’re the sharing type…

Anna Paquin says that she will return from Fairyland but that “there’s stuff that’s different.¨ Alan confirmed that Sookie’s grandfather Niall (from the books) will not appear this season but will definitely show up some time in a future seasons.

Alan Ball said that “Eric doesn’t know who he is anymore” and that the Viking is desperately lost in season 4. The amnesia storyline is confirmed and although Eric does know he’s a vampire, he doesn’t know much more. He might receive some assistance from a blond fairy to help him remember his life. Alan Ball mentioned that vampires do dream and that there might be some flashbacks from the dearly departed. Alex Skarsgard added that there is an amazing flashback with Eric and Bill. Alexander also mentioned to Alan that he would really like to see some flashback scenes with Eric and Pam. Alan took note!

Sam did confirm that he will find love again this season, he will be bartending again and hopefully he´ll putting aside his bad ways!

Bill and Sookie’s breakup is serious and it will be a very difficult road to bring those two back together. The question was asked if Alan Ball still believed that Bill and Sookie were soul mates. Alan responded that it was very difficult not to see them that way as they are soul mates in real life.

Queen Sophie Anne and Bill Compton’s fight will include one other “person.”

There will be a bunch of new characters, including one played by Gary Cole.

Tara Thornton will be a much stronger person this year and will be more stable.

Bellefleurs: Andy Bellefleur will be experimenting with some of the V at the police station and Terry B and Arlene´s trouble will ¨grow exponentially¨ thanks to Arlene´s evil baby.

Hoyt and Jessica are still together but will face some challenges, ¨all good things eventually come to an end¨ said Deborah Ann Woll.

Tommy just wants to be loved…

That pretty much concluded our sneak peek into season 4. We may think of more tomorrow as at the moment we’re falling asleep as we type!

Thank you to Alan Ball and the cast for giving us the opportunity to spend time with our favorite supernaturals and humans!

Special thanks to Christy & Crystal who made our Paleyfest experience a little easier.

Videos coming soon…

TO SEE THE PHOTOS…GO HERE FOR NOW (I, Jenna am NOT a laptop lover and will load gallery here when I get home)!

A special thank you from me to Sam and Alex for such a wonderful time!!!

Sam Trammell talks new season of True Blood, resolutions and guilty pleasures

With the fourth season of True Blood being shot right now, are you guys sitting around wondering what is going to happen next? I know I am guilty of this so I was hoping to dig around a bit and see what I could find out.

We have a very special shape shifter series this week that although will not reveal any MAJOR plot points, will be enough to whet your appetites a bit. Today we are featuring Sam Trammell who of course plays shape shifter/bar owner Sam Merlotte on the HBO supernatural drama. Tomorrow you will read our interview with Janina Gavankar who will play Bon Temps newest shape shifter/school teacher Luna in season four.

Trammell’s character had some major demons going on inside him during season three and you will be happy to know that Sam (the actor not the character) is enjoying every second of it.

Plus learn a little more about the real Sam Trammell and some of his favorite things, including a surprising television show that he loves watching on his free time!

Rosy: Happy New Year Sam! Did you kick off the new year with any resolutions?

S. Trammell: Oh my goodness, I really didn’t, what can I say? I haven’t even dealt with the fact that it’s the New Year yet, I was just trying to get in shape for the show because I have to do these scenes, but I don’t have any New Year’s Resolutions, I got nothing for you on that.

Rosy: So let’s get right into some True Blood talk! Have you guys headed back to set since the holidays?

S. Trammell: Yeah, we are, we started on the 3rd of January or something like that. So, we’re back, I’ve already done like two nights, all nights, overnight, cold weather.

Rosy: What episode are you all currently shooting?

S. Trammell: We are shooting parts of one, two and three. We usually have two episodes going at the same time. But, I know we’re shooting two, and I think we might have started three at this point.

Rosy: I had no idea you did a few of them at the same time. Doesn’t that get confusing?

S. Trammell: Well, it’s pretty wild. Like for instance, I was shooting a scene of episode two one night at the early part of the night, and the latter part of the night a new director and crew came in, and I did a scene from episode one, so I did two different episodes in the same night. So, it’s really not that confusing, those two scenes, just because they are different episodes doesn’t necessarily make it confusing.

It’s just as likely that those two scenes could have been in the same episode, it’s just a day has passed or something like that. So sometimes its confusing, we have so much to shoot, so it takes a while to shoot our show, and if we didn’t do two at a time, we’d finish in October.

Rosy: When the season premieres, is it going to pick up from where it left off?

S. Trammell: I can’t really talk about that. There are definitely some surprises that are really cool that happen right at the beginning of next year.

Rosy: Sam has gone through a major evolution since we first met him in season 1, can you talk a bit about the character’s evolution, and where you see him going?

S. Trammell: Well yeah, I guess the first three seasons that took up about two months time and in that time he had sex with a few different people. He has one girlfriend that totally betrayed him to Maryann. He almost got killed by Maryann, and then the whole stuff with his parents an all that. We don’t know yet if I shot my brother or what happened there. But yeah, Sam has kind of had a tough road for sure, but we saw in the flashback that she had a tough life before Bon Temps. So, I think Sam came to Bon Temps to reinvent himself and to start a new life, and I feel like Sam is a really good person at heart.

But a lot of the repressed emotions built up. It’s frustrating that we didn’t know a lot about me because I kept to myself. I was kind of secretive and, I think that throughout the two months that were the first three seasons, I was coming out of my shell a lot more, and not repressing a lot of the baggage that I had coming into Bon Temps.

In a way, I’m becoming more myself, I’m kind of hiding myself a little bit less. Also, people have found out that I’m a shape shifter and it’s kind of hard. I think that would be one of the main things that sam has been shaken loose from his shell and and we are starting to see really more who he really is, the good sides and the bad sides. Sam is definitely a good person and he follows that up in the fourth season. He is not as hidden as he was.

Rosy: As we got further in to the season, your character got a lot darker, we saw stuff that we never expected from Sam. Are you enjoying the change?

S. Trammell: Oh yeah, that was fun, that was really fun! I loved getting to do the flashback scenes from stealing with the girl and then when I shot them that was really fun. And also kind of being drunk and firing Tommy. Just getting to do something different like that was great, and just a lot of fun to do something different. I did enjoy that.

Rosy: Sam’s parents were a big part of season three, do you know if we’ll see them again?

S. Trammell: I think we will see my parents again, yeah, I think we do. I think that happens, it’s gonna happen. I thought they were great, they were really good. They were fantastic.

Rosy: Sam and Sookie’s (Anna Paquin) relationship has been really complex. Where do you see the future of their dynamic?

S. Trammell: Sam is always gonna hold a bit of a flame for Sookie. She’s obviously in love with Bill (Stephen Moyer), and she has that whole world to explore. But I feel like there’s always going to be a connection between us.

And, as frustrated as I certainly got the first season, it maybe part of the second season of which they’re running off with the vampires, cause it’s going to be healthy for her. As frustrated as I got, I think I’ll always hold the torch for her and also really keep an eye out for her. I feel like there’s definitely a real love there.

Who knows, maybe it can turn into some sort of relationship down the line, and be more than just friends. But in the meantime, I feel like we’re both kind of definitely from season one Sam has kind of given up on her as far as pursuing her in a romantic relationship and he’s gone on to other things. But I feel there’s still a spark there, and there probably always will be.

Rosy: This season you have a new shape shifter coming in. Janina Gavankar is going to playing the role of Luna. Can you tell us what role her character will play in Sam’s life?

S. Trammell: She is a new shape shifter, and she’s someone that I’ve met. I honestly don’t know what her whole thing is going to be. I’ve only seen the first three episodes myself.

She’s definitely somebody that Sam can share his experiences as a shape shifter with, and she’s somebody that I’m actually trying to help out in a certain way. I’m trying to sort of in the way that Daphne’s character tried to help me deal with my own shape shifting stuff. I’m kind of helping her a little bit. So she’s kind of, she’s somebody that Sam is able to share her experiences with.

It’s hard to do interviews and I’m trying not give anything away. So that’s why some of this is vague and cryptic so, sorry about that.

She’s definitely someone that is going to be a big part of Sam’s life in this fourth season, and I think there’s going to be sounding boards for each other, and they’re going to help each other.

Anyways, she’s sort of part of this, she’s another shape shifter that I’m talking to.

Rosy: I heard that you and Luna would be getting together and attending some sort of “meetings” together. Are the shape shifters planning to come out into the open like the vampires are?

S. Trammell: Well, that is possible, but I don’t know. I actually don’t know the answer to that. I kind of doubt it, but it’s possible. Ok it sounds like you know about this group, yes there’s this little group that she’s apart of, that I’m apart of.

But I don’t know, it kind of feels, I think it’s just, I don’t know if there’s a kind of group plan to do anything together as far as group vs society. We just kind of help each other with our problems so far.

Rosy: True Blood is such a guilty pleasure for so many. I watch celebrity interviews and so many confess to watching the show without fail. What are your guilty pleasure tv shows?

S. Trammell: Oh Gosh, there’s a couple of new things. Tosh.0 I just started watching on Comedy Central. That guys pretty funny. There’s that, and for a while, Project Runway.

There were a bunch of people that I knew were watching it. I haven’t watched it in two seasons. There was a season that I wasn’t into it, and I haven’t gotten back.

Rosy: Dexter is one of my other guilty pleasure TV shows, I love that you were his second victim. Can you tell me what the experience was being wrapped up in the cellophane and to be killed by Dexter?

It was pretty cool, it was the first episode after it got picked up, so they didn’t even know they were a hit TV show yet. So it was really cool.

Michael C. Hall was great! It was intense because I think they now have something figured out with the cellophane. They have this sort of suit that it’s easier to get in and out.

But, for me they wrapped me in cellophane and it felt like it took almost a half hour to do that. And then I was stuck for almost four hours wrapped tightly, and I remember my arms starting to go to sleep. They were trying to get the shot off before my arm really fell asleep, and I had to get out of here. But, it was intense. It’s really intense; he shoved an ice pick into the heart or something like that. It was a fun deal, I love playing bad guys, it’s always great. So, that was good. It was intense, it was kind of claustrophobic being wrapped up like that.

In case any of you missed this episode (shame on you!) check it out!:

Rosy: With all the time that goes into creating and promoting a show like True Blood, do you have time to work on other projects? I know you did the Funny or Die video which is great, and you have a couple movies coming out?

S. Trammell: Yeah, we have four or five months of hiatus, we don’t do 22 episodes like the cable network shows. But yeah I do have some time. I did this movie called Guns, Girls, and Gambling over the hiatus and yeah I got some of those Funny or Die videos, and definitely got called to do some other stuff during the hiatus.

Rosy: Has Guns, Girls, and Gambling gotten a release date yet?

S. Trammell: No, not yet. I think they’re still editing but it doesn’t have a release date yet.

Rosy: You’re also rumored to have a role in a movie called “Egg Scape”? Can you confirm if you have a role in the film and what it is?

S. Trammell: I don’t know if that film is happening or not. I read it and said I might be interested, but that movie is not in production or even in pre-production. That’s just a possibility.
