True Blood: Sam’s Shapeshifting Bro Cast

Former Prison Breakers head to Bon Temps

December 1, 2009 -

EW.com’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that Prison Break’s Marshall Allman and Shannon Lucio have landed new juicy roles in True Blood’s Season 3.

Allman, who played Dominic’s Purcell’s son on Break, will play the role of Tommy, Sam Merlotte’s younger shapeshifting brother, and Lucio, who played an undercover FBI agent on Break, will be playing Bill Compton’s original Civil War-era wife, Caroline.

Now we did see Caroline already, from a distance, but she was portrayed in that brief scene by a different actress. Her role will now be a bit more substantial.

Ausiello also mentioned a few roles that still need to be cast. One is that of “Crystal Norris, a mysterious beauty who bewitches one of our alpha males” and another is Melinda Mickens, who most likely will, due to the fact that she and Tommy share the same last name, wind up being Sam’s birth mother. Mickens is described as “just about the only character in history who lives in more trash than Oscar the Grouch.”

Sam Trammell: “I am inspired by my dog”

Hi everyone!

This little tidbit comes from the French website, 20 minutes.fr. I had to translate very crudely, I’m afraid; so bare with me, please. This was released today, but apparently the French are only now starting Season 2! How cruel!!

ENJOY!

SERIES – Season 2 of the series “True Blood” begins tonight at 21:30, on Orange Cinemax …

“True Blood” … The name of the preferred drink of vampires in Bon Temps, Louisiana a town where Alan Ball, author of “Six Feet Under”, placed his new series. A “synthetic blood” meant to facilitate their perilous coexistence with humans. The actors came to Paris to present the second season of the series, which begins tonight at 21h30 on Orange Cinemax. And 20 Minutes could meet  Sam Trammell and  Michelle Forbes.

Sam Trammell, it does not make you too afraid to impersonate a dog-garou?

Afraid? I think you do not measure. In Los Angeles, when we started talking about “True Blood”, the novelty of the absolute channel HBO series, with Alan Ball Môssieur orders, everyone wanted to be. So when he spun me the script and I discovered that I would be a “shapeshifter” someone who can transform into an animal, I told myself that I would adapt.

That is to say?

Bah, I do not play the dog, when I converted, it is a real dog who plays eh! But I’m still inspired by my pet for my character. His way of sniffing, to move. I also played a lot of nude scenes, so the challenges are not lacking.

Yes, the sex scenes, violence, many are …

Which means that half the people I know in Louisiana, where part of my family is from, do not watch the series. They are too conservative and believe it gives a bad image of the South. The other half loves it!

The geographical dimension is important?

Very. First, because actually, people in the South are different. They talk, dress differently. And then there was the whole historical dimension. The ghost of slavery still haunts, and racism is very present …

Metaphorically in “True Blood” by the attitude of humans to vampires?

Caution, do not conclude that “True Blood” is hyper metaphysics. “Six Feet Under” was. But, I think Alan has especially liked fun. Although I studied semiotics and, yes, we can interpret the series in sociological terms, but also Marxist, feminist, linguistic …
